Introduction to Vocal Technique (I-IV)
Don't be shy! Go ahead and reach out via the contact page to setup your free 25 minute consultation. This initial phone call helps Cara learn more about you, your goals, and how she can help you. It also gives you a chance to ask any questions. After the call, you will have the information you need to decide if you would like to move forward and schedule your first lesson.
We can weave in and out of the topics you need the most - when you need them. Your 60-minute lesson is yours, so it can be tailor-made to your specific needs. This range of topics is always available to you.
The lessons are 60 minutes in length and can be scheduled at any frequency. Same time every week? Great. Different times and/or on an “as needed” basis? Sure! We will come up with a plan to find out what works best for you.
We can meet weekly, every other week, or whenever your timing or budget allows. That being said, while you are "on-boarding", or for the first few weeks, I have found it most helpful to meet weekly, until you get the hang of things!
My current rate is $95 for 60 minutes. I currently accept Zelle payments. If you have questions please reach out via the contact page to find a solution.
At this time, all lessons are virtual, unless otherwise noted or prior arrangements are made. Cara's preferred virtual meetup is Apple FaceTime, with Zoom as an alternative option.
Masterclasses & Workshops
ACTIVATE YOUR GROUP with an interactive workshop for your school, choir, or company team-building event! Libra Voice Studio offers workshops, masterclasses, as well as live performance coaching for groups of any size. Cara loves to collaborate and would relish the opportunity to come up with a bespoke talk or experience for your organization's particular needs and budget. Please reach out on the contact page to discuss concepts and rates!
"I am so thankful for the incredible growth I have experienced because of her teaching.... She's so encouraging and uplifting. Pure soul. Super knowledgeable about the voice and singing too.”

Cara approaches the vocalist in a holistic manner by encouraging presence and freedom throughout one’s whole structure: body, mind, and voice.
She collaborates with students to co-create a learning environment filled with dialogue and discovery. Students can experience transformative breakthroughs by exploring: new vocal approaches, sensory awareness, habit formation (a.k.a. "practicing"), and creative guidance. Throughout the training process, students can learn to cultivate resilience, presence of mind (mindfulness), stamina, adaptability, and vocal agility - as well as mental acuity.
Guiding students to establish healthy new vocal foundations, Cara believes that all people can discover the joy of effortless singing - and liberate their voice in the process.
Cara builds heavily upon the Bel Canto Vocal Technique (Italian for: "Beautiful Singing") in combination with her current training in The Alexander Technique (body awareness method).
The Alexander Technique, which helps release physical tension, aligns with the Bel Canto approach of effortless singing, purity of tone, and lyrical refinement of vocal interpretations.
This exaltation of one's natural vocal resonance, supported by both methodological approaches, can result in transcendent singing in any style or genre.
I specialize in jazz and contemporary music. That can include: Jazz (repertoire, style, improvisation), RnB, Country, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap, Musical Theater, Punk Rock, and more. I love to help contemporary singers establish healthy vocal foundations to sing whatever style they wish! - and to sing it well :)
That being said, if you are looking for a voice teacher to specifically learn "scream-o", or how to scream, I recommend you seek an alternative vocal coach who specializes in that style of vocal delivery. You will need a specialist to help you make sure you are protecting your vocal instrument to the best of your ability.
The Alexander Technique is a body-awareness training and methodology. This technique is popular among vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, athletes, and other performance-based disciplines because it helps people achieve greater flow and effortlessness in their physical movements.
Principles include: building sensory awareness, "body mapping" (anatomical sketches and visual aids to raise kinesthetic awareness), cultivating ease and effortlessness of the natural form (body-mechanics), mindfulness, and more.
Cara is currently working towards AmSAT certification through The Balance Arts Center in NYC.
A Berklee College of Music Graduate (2009), Cara has a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, the premier contemporary music conservatory in the world.
20 years as a professional jazz/contemporary vocalist with international touring credits, high-profile event performances, NYC nightclub residencies, and more.
Since 2020, she has worked as Adjunct Instructor of Jazz/Contemporary Voice and Songwriting at Lindenwood University (St. Charles, MO); where she teaches private voice and songwriting lessons and has acted as a course instructor, guest lecturer, adjudicator, and guest speaker, leading multiple original masterclasses.
Cara is currently training and working towards her AmSAT certification in The Alexander Technique through The Balance Arts Center, NYC.
